“The Kaltenian Christmas”
Stoneware, soda firing.
Sledges from the Dambekalns family in Kaltene.
The time of the winter solstice belongs to everyone, rich and poor alike. Who experiences it more fully is still a question. For the truly rich are those who have enough. The one who is in the right place and time. (And he that said, Not that which dwelleth in the house by the sea is stedfastly rooted in the sand of the dunes.)
The Kaltenian Christmas is a summer project that reinforces the irony of celebrating the solstice, the project created objects that represent the intention and missed brickwork by the Kaltene public library. The stove door would had overlooked the Baltic Sea.
